Professional Organization of Women Exploring Resources

General Business Meeting

February 27, 2003

Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Beth Engel, President

Beth welcomed our guests and/or potential members and explained the purpose of P.O.W.E.R.

Beth introduced the board members/officers and everyone present introduced themselves.

Beth introduced Judy Cummings who gave a presentation on what it means to be a non-profit organization and some fund raising ideas.

Monica Schulte presented an opportunity to have your business card published free of charge in a booklet courtesy of Donna Marie Golden from Ivanhoe Financial. Motion from Laura Tucker-DeVries, supported by Candice Sutton to consider if we want to participate in the program. Motion carried unanimously.

Beth asked for comments from the floor on what our guests were looking for from the club. There was much discussion on what the club was about, what our goals were, how often we meet, etc.

Beth discussed potential meeting places as Seaway Community Bank would not be able to accommodate the size of our meetings for much longer. Possible sites include the new Clay Township board room or Algonquin Place recreational room.

It was announced that future meeting dates and places would be advertised on Channel 6 and in the Voice Newspaper.

Mauri Sutton presented information from Michigan State University regarding various literature that we can obtain from them that may be beneficial to the club.

Mauri presented the new bio sheet to potential members to be completed.

With there being no further business, on a motion from Candice Sutton, supported by Erin Bitten the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.

A social mixer followed the meeting for the officers and board members to meet and greet our guests and new members.
