
Anne Groat, age 88, of The Villages near Lady
Lakes, Florida; formerly of Melvin, Michigan, died January 29, 2004. She was
born March 16, 1915 in Peck, Michigan to John and Mary (Black) Murray. She
graduated from Peck High School, Class of 1933. She married J. Maurice Groat on
April 7, 1934
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great
great-grandmother. She loved to oil paint and music. She attended the New
Covenant United Methodist Church in Florida, but had been a member of the Melvin
Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by 3 children; Ronald (Joyce) Groat, The Villages, Florida, Maureen (Dick) Stableford, Dumfries, Virginia, and Jack (Elizabeth) Groat, Canton Township, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Thelma Groat.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. Maurice Groat, sister, Elsie Hillborn, 3 brothers; Jack, Bill and Vern Murray.
A gathering for family and friends will be Tuesday, February 3, 2004 from 6:00 -
9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 2:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Carman
Funeral Home in Brown City, Michigan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Melvin
Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Melvin, Michigan.
Pall Bearers will be Tim Groat, Dave Groat, Alan Groat, Dave Donoho, John Beattie, Mark Giguere, and Keith Ponier.
Memorials may be made to Melvin Baptist Church in Melvin, Michigan or New Covenant United Methodist Church Building Fund.
