Helen Lucille North, age 91, of Brown City, Michigan, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2002 in Lapeer. She was born November 28, 1911 in Burnside Township on the McKillen Centennial Farm to Silas and Elizabeth (Stokes) McKillen.

Helen Lucille McKillen and William W. North were united in marriage on March 12, 1930 in Brown City, Michigan. They farmed together in Burnside Township for many years. He passed away December 22, 1996.

At age 45, she earned her nursing degree and retired from the former Oakdale Reginal Center after many years of service.

She was a member of the Brown City United Methodist Church, Lapeer County Genealogical Society, State Employees Retiree's Association-Lapeer, former member of Burnside Senior Citizens, Over 50 Club and the Michigan History Class, was a 4-H sewing leader at Deanville and graduated from Brown City High School in 1929.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, traveling, genealogy, area history and always lending a helping hand. She taught by example, the quiet acceptance of life as it is and was a quiet. modest, honorable woman of great strength and high standards.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Mary Helen and Richard Ahlgren of Brown City, Michigan, Five grandchildren: Cindy (Marlow) McCready of Melvin, Michigan, Richard (Brenda) Ahlgren of Marlette, Michigan, Cheryl (Jerome) Lewis of Marlette, Michigan. Randall Ahlgren of Brown city, Michigan, and Kevin (Tami) North of Brown City, Michigan; six great-grandchildren Adam and Alyssa Ahlgren, Nathan and Samantha North, Brittany and Katelyn Lewis; sister-in-law Thelma McKillen of North Port, Florida, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ralph Taylor of Lake Orion, Michigan, Edwin (Amaryllis) North of Midland, Carl North of Morriston, Tennessee, Irene (Dr. Gene) Bosca of Redford, Michigan and Carol (James Chapman of Lapeer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by  her parents, son and daughter-in-law Wilfred and Patricia North, grandson Baron North and brother Addison McKillen.

Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2002 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City, Michigan with Reverend Basel Curtiss, a cousin, officiating. He will be assisted by Reverend Arthur Stone. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brown City, Michigan. Memorials may be made to the family of charity of choice.

Pallbearers will be Richard and Randall Ahlgren, Marlow McCready, Jerome Lewis, Kevin North and Larry Stephens.
