Stewart
Milton Robbins, age 79, of Skanee near L'anse, Michigan in the Upper
Peninsula, died March 27, 2003 in Fenton, Michigan at his daughter's home. He
was born December 21, 1923 in Ypsilanti to Stewart and Katheren (Becker)
Robbins. Stu served in the army under the 29th Infantry. He was wounded during
the Invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
He married Anna Marie Sarver, who preceded him in death on January 28, 1983.
A sheet metal journeyman, he was a member of local #80 for many years and retired from W. E. Ensroth in Warren. Stu was a life member of the American Legion Post #144, and the VFW Post #3897, both out of L'anse, Michigan. An all around sportsmen he enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He is survived by 11 children: Sandra Hicks, Karen Clawson, Janice Blake, Deborah Reeves, Renee Summers, Stewart Robbins Jr., Michelle Head, Daniel Robbins, Margaret Vercauteren, Patrick Robbins and Scott Robbins; 23 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Louise (Anthony) Vega and a brother, Dick Robbins.
A visitation will be in Carman Funeral Home in Brown City, Michigan prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Elder John Murray officiating. Burial will be in Valley Center Cemetery. Military Honors by the Peck American Legion.
