Ira Shephard, age 97 of Brown City died August 21, 2002 in Yale, He was born October 17, 1904 in Brown City, Michigan to John Henry and Cora (McGregor) Shephard. He attended Poplar Point School. He married Evelyn Witmer on October 30, 1926 in Brown City at her parents' home. They were married 75 years.

Ira was a dairy farmer. He was an active member of Omard United Methodist church and held many offices.

Ira is survived by his brother Bruce (Irene) Shephard, sister in law Edith Shephard, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, parents, John and Cora Shephard; four brothers, William, Richard, Otis and his twin Irvin; 3 sisters, Jessie O'Marrow, Sadie Apsey and Blanche Cummings; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be in Carman Funeral Home in Brown City on Friday from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Omard United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Omard Cemetery.
