Viola B. VanDamme, age 82 of Brown City, died October 8, 2002 in Port Huron. She was born March 23, 1920 in Flynn Township to Peter and Amanda Stephens. She attended Omard Country School. On June 7, 1938 she married Charles VanDamme in Brown City.

She farmed with her husband for over 64 years. She was a member of local Jolly Dugan Club. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting and pinochle. She attended Omard United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons; Wayne Charles VanDamme and his wife Carol, Dale Albert VanDamme and his wife Susan and Ward Leslie VanDamme and his wife Jeanie, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles VanDamme and a sister Gladys Spencer.

A gathering will take place at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 10, 2002 from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 11,, 2002 at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Omard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Omard United Methodist Church.
