"Muir Brothers Funeral Homes" have been family owned and operated for nearly 95
years. This beautiful, historic Victorian style house in Imlay City has been a functioning
funeral home since 1946 when it was opened by Grant & Paul Muir. It has been
managed by Robert G. Muir, a third generation funeral director, since 1982. It is the Muir
families' commitment to personally serve the families in the Lapeer County area with
compassionate, reliable, professional service, now and in the future.

Robert and Sharon Muir, own Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. They
operate the facility with the assistance of their family and staff. Robert Muir was a 1977
graduate of the Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science. Bob and Sharon are
members of the Imlay City United Methodist Church and the Imlay City Chamber of
Commerce. Bob is a Imlay City Lions Club member and a former 15 year member of
the Imlay City Volunteer Ambulance Service. Professionally, they are members of the
Thumb Funeral Directors Assn., the Michigan Funeral Directors Assn., the National
Funeral Directors Assn.
, and the Michigan Embalmers' Society. The Muir families are
proud to serve the communities where they have lived their entire lives. "There is a very
special feeling you get when you can help your friends and neighbors through one of the
hardest times in their lives.

"Personal, professional service is the cornerstone of this truly "hometown business."

The Muir's will provide professional help in assisting you in making funeral arrangements
when a loved one has died. Traditions and customs are very important to
families at the time of a family members death; however, many alternative funeral
arrangements are available to the families we serve in addition to traditional funeral
services. The Muir Brothers Funeral Home's director works with family members, clergy
and friends to personalize each service. Personalization is just one reason many
people choose to pre-plan their own funeral services; other reasons to pre-plan your
services include: financial considerations and making decisions easier for family
members. A professionally trained member of the Muir family will be available to
explain all the pre-planning funeral alternatives.

The Muir family and their staff, ( Robert Muir - ( the Funeral Director),
Sharon Muir, Doris Muir, Betty Cramer, Rudy Heidenreich, Sherri Ferrier Hess &
Sarah Wiengartz) understand the emotional and physical stresses experienced after the
death of a loved one and they will provide sensitive, understanding support. "We are
currently putting together a local resource guide and library for individuals and families
going through the difficult stages of grief." It is important for people to understand that
they are not alone during these difficult times. "People need their friends and families
more at these time, than at any other time of their lives."

Tom Giles, who has recently retired, was an employee of the funeral home
since 1972. Tom will continue serving the community through his own business: Imlay
City Monuments ( Grave markers, monuments and memorials). He offers a variety of beautiful Markers and Monuments from Sunburst Memorials and also from Patten Monument Company. You can see what both companies have to offer by clicking on their name, it will take you to their web sites.

In an effort to better meet the needs of the families they serve. Muir's have
completed the second phase of a major renovation project to the funeral home in Imlay
City. "We're very proud of the improvements we have made to our facility over the past
year". The larger, handicap accessible restrooms, the entrances closer to the parking
area, there is more off street parking, it is easier to move about the building from area to
area, and the smoke free environment are just a few of the changes that have occurred
to make your visit to the funeral home a little more pleasant and comfortable. The Muir
Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City
is here to SERVE the community
