
J. P. Franklin, age 86, of Florida,
previously of Imlay City, Michigan, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004 at
Lapeer Regional Hospital.
J. P. was born John Persling to Richard and Margaret (Bower) Franklin on July t,
1918 in Port Huron, Michigan.
He married Thelma Fay Murphy (she died December 28, 2003) in Yale, Michigan on
October 18, 1942. They raised three children together.
J. P. had been in the community since 1989 then moved to Rapid City for 8 years
then moved to Florida.
J. P. worked for Buick Motors for over seventeen years at the Flint Engine Plant
as a camshaft grinder. While in Summerfield Florida he worked for A & J Seiting
Mfg. (a cabinet making company) for nearly 15 years.
He also served in WWII
He was a member of Worldwide Church of God of Ocala, Florida.
J. P. is survived by his daughter; Diana (Henry) Bollon of Mayville, Michigan, and son; Jerry (Diane) Franklin, Sr. of Palm Coast, Florida, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Donna Hillman of Alma, Michigan, and Beatrice Spencer also of Alma, Michigan.
J. P. is preceded in death by his wife Thelma, son; Michael Dean Franklin in 1966, and brother; John Oliver Franklin.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, in Imlay City, Michigan. Pastor Paul Armstrong and Pastor Mead of Mayville Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City, Michigan.
