
Philip E. Pittenger, age 89, of Imlay
City, Michigan (previously of Almont and Glennie areas) passed away Tuesday,
November 2, 3004 at Lapeer Regional Medical center.
Philip was the son of Emmett and Bertha (Helnka) Pettenger born December 18,
1914 in Lum, Michigan
Philip attended the country school in Lum and graduated with the class of 1934
from Almont High School.
Philip married Doris (Yoder) in Almont, Michigan August 1, 1937.
Philip was employed with the Firestone Plant in Washington, Michigan where he
was a Tool and Die Maker. He manufactured seat belt buckles and retractors for
the auto industry, retiring in 1977 after 25 plus years.
Philip was an active member in his church where he was a Deacon at First
congregational Church in Almont, and a member of the International Order of Odd
Fellows.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Philip is survived by his wife Doris Pittenger of Imlay City, Michigan, daughters: Diane (Curt) Gnepper of Traverse City, Michigan and Kathryn (Vince) Famularo of Imlay City, Michigan, son: Neil Pittenger of Elkhart, Indiana, foster son: Dr. Donald Burnell and family of St. Louis, Missouri.
Philip is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Bertha Pittenger, brothers Bernard and Harry Pittenger, and a sister Ardis White.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Muir Brothers funeral Home, Imlay City, Michigan. Pastor Larry Rieck will officiate with interment at the Ferguson Cemetery, Almont, Michigan.
Friends may call Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main, Imlay City, where the family will be available for visiting from 2-5 and 7-9 Wednesday, November 3, 2004.
