CONSUMER BENEFITS
Users of the Anytown Information site can now find information relevant to their own town or any neighboring community, all consolidated into one easy to use location. Since the scope of this information is unlimited, each individual town will be custom tailored to the needs of its users with information they will find usable but, not information that general users do not have much use for. Anytown Information's' staff will work hard to monitor site use and conduct polls and surveys to learn what it is "you" want. Hopefully this constant monitoring and updating process will keep our pages from becoming cluttered with undesirable material and much more attractive to "you" the user. We, at Anytown Information, will also work to keep all information on the site up-to-date to prevent the site from growing stagnant. Since this is your site, you are strongly encouraged to click on the "FEEDBACK" link at our site and provide us with any thoughts or suggestions that you may have. This feedback only helps to make the pages of this site that much more to your liking. Some of the services Anytown Information is hoping to make available are:
City Hall - Each community will have information pertaining to their city hall. This will include information about office hours, elected officials, minutes from recent meetings, election results, as well as an editable area for updates of coming events and all other information that each particular locality wants to display to the public.
Weather - Each town will have a link, which will generate weather forecasts and give the current conditions.
Gas Gauge - Users will be able to click around from town to town and check gasoline prices in area communities. If they find a station with a price they are interested in, they can click on it and be taken to the stations particular home page.
Schools - Many times computer users have a difficult time finding their local school district in a search engine. We propose to make it so the area schools pages are only a click away. Anytown Information also hopes to add some flexibility to theses pages so different people related to the schools can present information they think may be beneficial to the site. These pages will also allow for ease in changes and the capability for school administration to update changing information at will. This will be good for things that consistently change like the lunch menu and the minutes from recent meetings.
Lottery - Many winners and dreamers alike need to have fast access to lottery numbers. At www.anytown.info they are only a click away.
Library - All district and public libraries will have the opportunity to present a page with the ability to update and present users with current information such as upcoming events and services their library provides.
Death Notices - It is so sad when people pass away and we do not have the capability of offering our immediate condolences because we did not read of the loss until a week after the funeral. At www.anytown.info we hope to be able to provide the information people need in a timely fashion so people can learn of funeral arrangements before the funeral. This will work good as users will be able to click on the name of the church or the funeral home and be taken to that area of the site to learn more about things such as their location or get a telephone number to ask questions that they need answered.
Births - Engagements - Weddings - Military News - Let us know about are military sons and daughters, where they are located and how they are doing.
Say Something Nice - An opportunity to give some good feedback about things going on in your town.
Telephone listings - On many occasions we get indignant with the service dial-up information provides for us. So many times they are rude and give us numbers not even close to that which we are looking for. Users will be able to find telephone listings without the dismay of overpriced operators with a smart mouth and a wrong number.
Church Directory - All area churches will have the opportunity to join the church area of the site and present users with relevant information and have editing capabilities to keep their pages updated and current.
Business - This area of the web site will have all participating businesses in all area communities. All businesses will have the opportunity to sponsor a page at a very minimal cost. We want to keep these pages so low priced so everyone who owns a business can participate and thus build the integrity of the anytown.info web-site. Users are strongly encouraged to patronize all businesses which are displayed, as these sponsors provide the funding for the site and allow for the inclusion of non-profit and community organizations to participate and Anytown Information would not be able to exist without their sponsorship.
Non-Profit and Community - This area of the site will allow links for all non-profit and community organizations to have a page with the same update capabilities as all other areas of the site. This portion of the site is done at no cost to the organizations involved but members of such organizations are encouraged to patronize business sponsors on the site in thanks for their support.
Since the anytown.info site is still in its development stages, it should be understood that some services may be added and likewise, some may be hindered. As we are working within time constraints, every effort is being made to have the site up and running by May 26, 2002.
At that time all available information should be presentable and ready for 100% operation. Since much of the information is reliant on third party sources the site may be temporarily limited but Anytown Information will do everything within it's power to make the above services available in a timely fashion. The Anytown Information web-site will also have many areas for users to provide feedback so we can best tailor the site to their wants and needs. Every avenue of communications will be used to add ease for businesses and community groups to update their information. These will include fax capabilities, E-mail, telephone or U.S. mail. Any feedback is strongly encouraged so we can build the site to be the most beneficial to all who are involved.
