John Thomas Barton Jr., age 84 of Clifford, Michigan, Koylton Township, died Monday, October 27, 1003 at his home. Mr. Barton Jr. has lived in the Clifford area for 13 years and was previously from Rochester, Michigan.
He was born September 26, 1919 in Galatia, Illinois, son to the late John and Margaret (Smith) Barton Sr.
He married Nita Williams on October 18, 1942 in Nepolan, Ohio.
Mr. Barton was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1938 to 1939.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII 1943 to 1946.
He worked for Pontiac Motors for 30 years retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 653.
He enjoyed gardening, his pets Mindy and Katy and most of all  his family.

He is survived by his wife Nita, daughters Karen (Bert) Cummings Jr. of Columbiaville, Michigan, Cheryl (Robert) Gabert of Lapeer, Michigan, sisters Margaret Spears of Texas, Genevieve Canady of Florida, grandchildren Michael Ackerman of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Paul Gavin of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Melissa Jucius of Attica, Michigan, Jeremy Ward of Fort Riley, Kansas and great grandchildren John, Joey and Aaron.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Vickie Barton and sisters Margie and Dora Maude.

Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 31, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, Michigan.

Memorials may be donations to the American Heart Association.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service.
