Vera L. Hirsch, age 98,died Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Marlette Community Hospital in Marlette, Michigan. Mrs. Hirsch has lived in Marlette the past 5 years and was previously from the Decker, Michigan area. She was born July 27, 1904 in Decker, Michigan daughter to the late Arthur and Emily (Vandervoort) Fifield..

She married John Hirsch March 24, 1926 in Argyle, Michigan. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1997.

Vera worked at the Decker Post Office for fifteen years and also helped on the family farm until her retirement. She was a life member of the Decker United Methodist Church and U.M.W. group.

She is survived by her son, Lee (Linda) Hirsch of Decker, Michigan, daughters; Delia (Walter) Rayl of Snover, Michigan, Lula (Lindsay) and Ralph Donaghy of Snover, Michigan, sisters; Ella Wright of Kentucky, Gertie Saigeon of Marlette, Michigan, Mabel Snover of Houghton, Michigan, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ray George, Alfred, Albert, sisters Eva, Marie and Clara.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 29, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. Fred McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the Mooretown Cemetery in Snover. Memorials may be given to the Hannah Wolfe Retirement Home or the donation of your choice.

Casket bearers, Jarrett Gordon, Garrett Gordon, Tim Rayl, Jerry Rayl, Brian Hirsch and Mark Draher.

Visitation will be held at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 from 7 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, November 28, 2002 from 7 pm to 9 pm.
